1. MONAD SHOAL Distance: between 20 and 30 minutes from the dive center There are two dive sites on this very large shoal: "Shark Point" and "The Hole". You can dive many times on these sites at different levels from 20 meters and down. The top of the shoal starts at 15 meters to 23 meters with a steer drop-off until 45 meters, and a second drop-off exceeding the limit of the sport diver depth. The specialty of these dive sites is the most probable encounter with white tip sharks, silver sharks, hammer head, eagle, manta rays (Manta birostris), and specially the famous thresher sharks (Alopias vulpinus), between 2 and 4 meters long, which may turn around you in 23 meters of water only. A whale shark has been reportedly spotted in the area. Discover also yellow-colored "frog fishes" hanging on soft corals (Verongida lanthellidae), as well as big sea fans, black corals and white anemone. 2. GATO ISLANDDistance: about 40 minutes to one hour from the dive center Current: light to moderate The island of Gato (guards watching and living on the island) is a protected marine sanctuary. The Island is especially well known for the sleeping sharks and black and white banded sea snakes (Laticanda colubrina). There are four known dive sites: "The Wall", "Gato Northeast", "Gato Northwest" and "Gato Cave". The sandy bottom, about 25 meters deep, is covered with huge rocks in which beautiful soft corals and abundant black corals are growing. Under the rocks you may see hiding species of sleeping sharks (white tip), blue spotted sting rays (Taeniura lymna) , groupers, etc…(flash light needed), also cuttle fishes, squids, a lot beautiful corals fishes, nudibranches, shells, in fact a paradise for photographers (macro and big fishes). Gato cave is a unique dive site for the experienced divers who are not afraid of the dark and overhead environment. The cave has two entrances, starting about 5 meters deep for about 80 meters long with a large exit at 14 meters. The inside of this huge cave is covered with daisy soft corals and sponges. It's looks like a night dive where you will see lobsters, crabs, cleanershrimps, etc… Not far from the exit you can see also sleeping sharks hidden in smaller caves. This dive is one of the highlights of Gato.
Distance: 40 minutes to one hour from the dive center Close to Carnasa Island, you will discover beautiful soft and hard corals all over during your dive in less than 22 meters of water, so with different species of nudibranches, a lot of coral fishes, barrels sponges (Haplosclerida petrosidae) and small caves with black spotted sting rays. Possibility of lunch on one of the remote white sand beach if requested.
Calangaman Island is a small beautiful remote island with white sand beach. There are three dive sites mainly wall dives which ends into the blue, with gorgones, sea fans, and black corals and offers a possible encounter with different kind of sharks and rays. A minimum of two dives is required for this daily trip. Pack must be prepared in advanced since there is no restaurant in the island. 5. DAKIT-DAKIT Distance: about 5 minutes by boat from the dive center Specially recommended for night dive. Between 5 and 15 meters deep where you will find plenty of shells, snails and huge crabs so with many shrimps, soles and sleeping fishes. With luck you may encounter octopus and cuttle fishes. 6. TAPILON SHIP WRECK Distance: about 25/30 minutes by boat from the dive center Current: light This Japanese cargo wreck from the World War II was hit by torpedoes and is lying down in 27 meters of water. It has been cut into four pieces lying down near each other so you can dive them all in one time. Black corals, lyon fishes, tall fin bat fishes (Platax teira), sometimes squid and others species of fishes are living in the wreck. 7. DOÑA MARILYN SHIP WRECK Distance: between 90 minutes and 2 hours from the dive center One of the highlights of diving in Malapascua Island is the proximity of the Filipino passenger ferry wreck, "DOÑA MARILYN" which sunk about 20 years ago, in an area not far from the island of Manuc-Manuc and Masbate. This 100-meter long wreck is lying down intact on its starboard side in 32 meters of water. The top, being only 20 meters away from the surface is covered literally with amazing beautiful soft corals. The wreck is home to a lot of corals and fishes. And on the sandy bottom where the cargoes has been scattered, you may occasionally see gray nurse sharks and black spotted sting rays. Dives to this site, due to the depth and usually quite strong current is advisable only for advanced divers. Two dives can be made at this wreck. First dive around 30 meters along the bottom of the ship towards the bow. Second dive around 20 meters following the upper part of the wreck through wonderful red and blue soft corals. One should not miss these two dives. Possibility for the second dive to be done on either Maria's point or on one of the Gato's dive sites. Plan you pack lunch in advance, as your meal will be taken on board while traveling to the site.
Distance: about 15 minutes from the dive center Another Japanese wreck from World War II, just very near the island of Malapascua. More than 100 meters long, this ship lay down on 54 meters of water and his upper part being at 40 meters from the surface. The wreck is covered with soft and hard corals, big fishes could be seen near and inside the wreck. Because of the depth and of permanent current, only experienced divers could do dives on this site. The inside of the wreck has to be explored and flashlights are therefore needed. 9. LIGHTHOUSE SHIP WRECK Distance: about 10 minutes from the dive center Another Japanese wreck from World War II close to the dive center and directly across the island's lighthouse. This landing craft is laying down in less than 8 meters of water and and is broken into 2 parts. Cuttle fish can be occasionally seen in the area so with several species of tropical fishes. A species of Mandarin Fish has also been sighted in the area. This divesite is recommended for Open-Water Divers. |

Insel ist besonders bekannt für ihre schlafenden Haifische und schwarz/weiss gestreifte Seeschlangen. (colubrina Laticanda). Es gibt vier bekannte Tauchreviere:"The Wall/Die Wand", "Gato Nordost "
"Gato NorthWest" und "Gato Cave (die Höhle)" Der sandige Boden, ungefähr 25 Meter tief, ist von sehr großen Felsen gesäumt, in denen schöne weiche Korallen und reichlich vorhandene schwarze
Korallen wachsen. Unter den Felsen können Sie versteckte schlafende Weißspitzenhaie, blau gepunktete Manta´s (Taeniura lymna), Groupers usw.-... (Taschenlampe erforderlich) sehen, auch Cuttlefische, Kalimare, viel schöne
Korallenfische, Nudibranches, Muscheln. In der Tat, ein Paradies für Photographen (kleine- und grosse Fische). Gato Cave ist eine einmalige Tauchsite für erfahrene Taucher, die keine Angst vor der dunklen und
oberirdischen Umgebung haben. Die Höhle hat zwei Eingänge und beginnt ungefähr 5 Meter tief auf ungefähr 80 Meter Länge mit einem großen 14 Meter breiten Ausgang. Das Innere dieser sehr großen Höhle wird von weichen
Korallen und Schwämmen umfaßt. Es ist wie Nachttauchen, wo Sie Hummer, Krebse und Krabben sehen können. Nicht weit vom Ausgang entfernt kann man schlafende Haifische sehen, die sich in kleineren Nischen verstecken.
Dieses Tauchen ist einer der Höhepunkte von Gato. Entfernung: 40 Minuten bis eine Stunde von der Taucherbasis Nah an Insel Carnasa entdecken Sie schöne weiche und harte Korallen während Ihres gesamten Tauchganges in weniger als 22 Metern Tiefer, mit unterschiedlichen Sorte von nudibranches, einer Menge Korallenfische, von
Schwämmen (Haplosclerida petrosidae ) und von kleinen Höhlen mit schwarzen gepunkteten Manta´s. Möglichkeit des Mittagessens auf einem des weißen Sandstrände, wenn Sie dies vor Fahrtbeginn geordert haben. Entfernung: ungefähr 2 Stunden mit dem Boot von der Taucherbasis Insel Calangaman ist eine kleine schöne Remoteinsel mit weißem Sandstrand. Es gibt drei Tauchbereiche,
hauptsächlich Wandtauchen, das im Blauen endet, mit gorgones, Seafans und schwarzen Korallen und ein mögliches Treffen mit Haifischen und den Manta´s anbietet. Ein Minimum von zwei Tauchern wird für diese Tegesreise
angefordert. Das Gepäck muß sorfältig vorbereit sein, da es in dieser Gegend kein Restaurant gibt. 5. DAKIT-DAKIT Entfernung: ungefähr 5 Minuten mit dem Boot vom Tauchbasis Besonders empfohlen für Nachttauchen. Zwischen 5 und 15 Metern tief, wo Sie viele Muscheln, Schnecken und der sehr großen Krabben sowie viele Garnelen, Sohlen und Schlaffische finden. Mit etwas Glück treffen Sie Krake-
und Cuttlefische. 6. TAPILON-SCHIFFS-Wrack Entfernung: ungefähr 25/30 Bootsminuten von der Taucherbasis. Strömung: Leicht Dieses japanische Ladungwrack vom 2. Weltkrieg Wurde durch
Torpedos geschlagen und liegt unten in 27 Metern Wasser. Es ist in vier Stücke geschnitten worden, die hinunter nahes liegen, also können Sie sie alle in einemmal tauchen. Schwarze Korallen, Lyonfische, hohe Flossehiebfische (teira
Platax), manchmal Kalmar und andere Sorte der Fische leben im Wrack.
7. Schiffs-Wrack DOÑA MARILYN Entfernung: Einer der Höhepunkte des Tauchens vor der Insel Malapascua ist die Nähe des Filippino Passagierfähren-Wrackes "DOÑA MARILYN” die vor ungefähr 20 Jahren dort
gesunken ist, in einem Gebiet nicht weit von die Insel von Manuc-Manuc und Masbate. Dieses 100-meter lange Wrack liegt intakt auf seiner Steuerbordseite in 32 Meter Tiefe auf dem Meeresboden. Die Oberseite, nur 20
Meter von der Wasseroberfläche entfernt, ist buchstäblich mit erstaunlich schönen weichen Korallen bedeckt. Das Wrack ist die Heimat einer Vielzahl von Korallen und Fischen. Auf dem sandigen Boden, in der die Ladung zerstreut
worden ist, können Sie gelegentlich graue Krankenschwesterhaifische sehen und schwarz gefleckte Manta´s. Tauchen auf dieser Site, ist wegen der Tiefe und der normalerweise ziemlich starken Strömung, nur für erfahrene Taucher
ratsam. Zwei Tauchegänge können zu diesem Wrack gemacht werden. Erster Tauchgang um 30 Meter entlang der Unterseite des Schiffes in Richtung zum Bug. Zweiter Tauchgang um 20 Meter, um den oberen Teil des Wrackes durch
wundervolle rote und blaue weiche Korallen. Man sollte diese 2 Tauchgänge nicht missen. Alternative Möglichkeit für den 2.ten Tauchgang wäre entweder Maria´s Point oder einer der Sites der Gatos Caves.
Nehmen Sie Reiseverpflegung mit, denn Mittagessen wird an Bord während der Reise genommen.. 8. PIONIER Schiffs-Wrack Entfernung: ungefähr 15 Minuten vom Dive Cernter Ein
anderes japanisches Wrack vom 2. Weltkrieg liegt sehr nahe an der Insel von Malapascua. Mehr als 100 Meter lang, liegt dieses Schiff in einer Tiefe von 54 Metern, und seine oberen Teile ragen bis 40 Metern unter die
Wasseroberfläche. Das Wrack ist mit weichem und harte Korallen bedeckt, grosse Fische können nahe und innen im Wrack gesehen werden. Entfernung: ungefähr 10 Minuten vom Dive Center Ein anderes japanisches Wrack
aus dem 2. Weltkrieg liegt in unmittelbares Nähe vom Dive Center, genau gegenüber vom Leuchturm. Dieses Landungsboot liegt in weniger als 8 Meter Tiefe und ist in 2 Teile gebrochen. Cuttle Fische können dort gelegentlich mit
anderen Arten tropischer Fische gesehen werden. Auch verschieden Sorten von Mandarinfischen sind in diesem Bereich gesichtet worden. Dieses Divesite wird für Offen-Wasser Taucher empfohlen. |
